The Warrior ~Epilogue

Epilogue

I am now 33. Adler and I have three beautiful children and live in a cottage.  We now live surrounded in a glorious light, darkness comes in the evening. My children and I love to dance in the sun. Our field is filled with flowers, and our parents live in houses next to us. Adler grows our food,  and I take care of our kids and teach them from the book. I tell them about how Adler and I met, how we helped destroy the Dark King, and how we died and came back to life. That‘s their favorite part. They love our stories.

Sometimes, I see Thor in the sky and I wave, knowing who the rider is. Since that day, I have seen a  few zombies, which I subtly killed. But it’s been close to seven years since the last zombie. I got to know my parents, and they told me why they named me Samara. Samara means, “Protected by God.” They felt that it was the right name, and I believe it was. Spending time with my parents made me feel like a child again. This time, without the trauma, pain, and loneliness. Adler’s parents and my parents get along well, which makes us feel even more like a big family. At night, when the moon and stars come out, we make sure that the kids are sleeping with their grandparents, and we sneak away. We fall asleep outside under the stars. I hope to die like this. Well… I hope to die again, but differently then last time. I hope to die in peace. I think of this as I cuddle myself closer to Adler, and I fall asleep, with the stars shining above us.

The Warrior Chapter 21

Chapter 20

I screamed, “Adler! No Alder! I told you not to die.” The King hushed me, “Shh, its okay.” He whispered into my ear, “Turn around.”

I turned away from the mirror which showed Adler’s body being torn to pieces, I wiped away my tears and saw Adler. He was in one piece, no blood or scars; just himself. He saw me and his mouth was open in disbelief just as mine was.

He walked forward slowly, as did I. When we were inches apart he held my head softly in his warm hands, “Are you real?” I laughed. “Yes Adler. I am real. Are you real?”

The King walked towards us. We were so happy we couldn’t let go of each other. We pulled apart from our embrace and faced the King, “Adler kneel.” He said.

“Adler, your spirit soars like your name Eagle. By the powers vested in me, I knight you. Sir Adler,”

He pulled out his sword and knighted him. I was surprised and excited for him. The look on Adler’s face was in shock, “Really?” Then blushed on how stupid he sounded.

The King laughed, “Yes son, really.”

Then Adler looked up at him and said, “You are the wind beneath my wings, there is no place I can go without you watching over me. I thank you for everything you have done for me. You will always be in my heart.”

When he was finished, The King had tears in his eyes, “Come here.” He said and gave him a hug. I had tears in my eyes as well.

Then he faced me, “I know you are wondering about your parents. They are here, they live in my kingdom. Do you want to meet them?” My hands shook; I looked down nervously and nodded.

I heard someone call my name, “Samara?” I looked behind me.

There was a woman, she seemed about thirty years old. She had auburn hair, and stormy grey eyes. She looked so familiar… “Mom?” The woman put her hands over her mouth and wept, “Oh Samara!” And she embraced me, “Why? Why did you have to die?” I asked.

She pushed my hair from my eyes and held my face. She was shorter than me, and she had a lot of freckles, she seemed like a five-year old on the outside. She looked so content, “Because if we didn’t die, you wouldn’t have helped kill The Dark King.”

“So… This is my destiny? Where is my father?” My mom pointed behind me, “Right behind you.” I turned and faced my father. I looked more like him. He had blue eyes and a beard, but his hair, body frame, smile, and nose were just like mine, “Daddy?” He opened his arms and I went into them. I felt at home. My mom joined in the family hug. We were there for a while not saying anything. Just tears from the past, being washed away right that minute.

We walked towards the King. I bowed, “I can’t thank you enough for what you have done for me.” He smiled, “You deserved it. Now I am going to send you back to Earth, more people need you, the war is almost over. We won, the rest of the creatures are hiding out in the depths of the woods. But eventually they will be forgotten.” I looked at Adler, “What about him? Can he come back? And my family?” The King nodded, “All of them, including your parents Adler,” He pointed in the distance.

Adler saw two figures walk towards him, “Mom, Dad!” He ran towards them and embraced them tightly, “I thought you were dead.” Adler’s mom laughed. She had pretty blonde hair which was shoulder length. Her hazel eyes sparkled with joy, and her laugh was contagious, “You can’t get rid of us that fast.” Adler’s dad spoke. I noticed he looked more like his father, “We missed you. We saw you get killed and we weren’t afraid. Somehow, we knew we  were all going to be together again.” Adler smiled; he was in so much shock he didn’t know what to say. He looked at the King who gave him his life back.

Then he was looking at me, I was not looking his direction, I was talking to my parents when he I felt a hand on my shoulder.

I turned and saw Adler, “So you have your life back.” I asked.

He nodded, “And I see you have yours too.” I smiled and looked back at my parents who were smiling, “Yeah, I can’t wait to get to know them.”

“Will you live nearby?”

I thought about it, “I am not sure, maybe. I don’t know.”

“Well, I talked to the King and this field.” He pointed to the mirror which was still there. I saw the field where my life got turned around completely, “This field is mine. The King gave it to me. I am going to build a house.”

For a minute, I was sad. I might never see Adler again. I gave him a hug, “Well, I hope it goes well, expect for the splinters.”

He laughed, “Well, I need to find someone who can get me lunch while I’m building this house. And some one who can read to me from this  book.” I looked down and he had the book. I gasped, “Adler! You have the book! I thought you lost it.”

“Samara. What I am trying to say is I need some one by my side. And I can’t bear to think what my life would be like without you.”

My heart was beating faster, “Me neither.” I whispered. Then he leaned forward and kissed me. It  was the most beautiful thing I have ever felt.  I felt loved, and cared for, and I never wanted him to let me go again.

The Warrior Chapter 20

Chapter 20

Adler shook Samara softly, “Samara? Samara?” She didn’t respond. He put her softly on the ground. He glared at the Dark King with hatred in his eyes, “You will pay for this.” The Dark King smiled, “Silly boy.” Adler was tired of The Dark King’s insults. He picked up the book and threw it at the Dark King. Then the impossible became possible. The book hit The Dark King in the forehead, The Dark King grabbed his head in pain, “Aaa!!” He roared. “Insolent fool!” He pointed his scepter at him. The green ray blasted towards Adler but nothing happened. Adler stood there and laughed at the Dark King. Then he stopped laughing, and looked at him. The Dark King was about to throw the green ray at him again when he looked down at himself it seemed as if he was shrinking; smaller, and smaller. The Dark King screamed, “No! This can’t be!”

He tried to make it stop with his magic, but his magic wasn’t as powerful as this unknown power. A white fog enveloped him and he just kept shrinking, the white fog was overtaking the green light. Then fire came down from the sky, it was so bright that Adler turned away. Then when he finally opened his eyes, he turned and looked behind him. The Dark King was nothing but a pile of ashes, “Alright!” Adler shouted. He turned and looked at Samara, “I wish you could have seen that.” He said softly. Then he remembered the book, he started looking frantically for the book. He found it next to the ashes. Surprisingly, it was still in one piece.

He heard shouts and cries of anger, “Uh Oh.” He thought, “I bet that is his army.” He was right all kinds of creatures leapt at him. He grabbed the closest weapon near him, a sword. It was better than nothing, he fought. It was the hardest battle of his life. It seemed as if he killed one creature, two more would come up. He grew tired quickly. He was not doing much damage to the army. Unbeknownst to Adler, a zombie approached from behind of him. He was trapped. The zombie knocked Adler out, and limb by limb, tore Adler to pieces.

The Warrior Chapter 19

Chapter 19

I saw a light, it was very bright and it was coming for me. I went through a tunnel. I was wondering where I was. At the end of the tunnel, I saw The Light King on Thor, “Hey Thor!” I looked at the King,  ”What’s up?”

He smiled, “I love how your spirit is much happier than your body.” I laughed then remembering what happened to me I asked him, “Where is Adler? Am I dead?” He nodded, “But don’t worry, look over there.” I looked through what looked like a mirror, and I saw Adler. I was looking down on Earth what was happening that very minute, I looked at The King and smiled, “Thanks.”

“No problem.”

I looked back to the mirror and saw what happened next.

The Warrior Chapter 18

Chapter 18

The Dark King smirked at these fools. So what if she killed only a small percentage of his army. He had thousands more for her to fight. Besides, The Light King, as they call him, was getting weaker. He knew it, because so far, he hadn’t seen the idiot yet, he wouldn’t leave those children alone. He would be next to them protecting them.

“The wimp.” He thought. He walked up to them smiling at the fact that they were about to be killed. These fools had caused him too much hell.

He smiled, “Hello.”

I flinched at the voice. I turned, “I hate you.”

“I know you do, and I don’t care.” He pointed to Adler, “You there, you really think that he has your parents? I have their bodies still in my chambers. So how could it be possible that that silly imposter has them? Alive and well?”

Adler walked up with his hands in fists, “I swear, say one more thing and I will kill you and your whole army. I will hunt you down.”

“I am not scared of you little boy, touch me and your hand will melt off, let me show you an example.” He threw his scepter towards me. A bright green ray came from it. I tried to jump aside but the ray hit me in the side. I felt pain, up and down, it was a burning pain, I screamed. The pain was intense. I fell on the ground, with the book in my arms.

“What the hell? What did you do to her!?” Adler screamed.

“Adler-” I gasped. “Adler, calm…down..”

The Dark King smirked, happy with himself, “Oh, I just struck her with some of my dark powers. She’ll be dead within five minutes.” Adler held me in his arms, “Why? Why did you bring her into this?”

“You just wouldn’t listen. So I had to take something away from you.” Adler had tears in his eyes, “Samara… I wish-”

I put my hand on his face, “I know. I wish we could have been together, but I’m going to be happy. up there with him. Enjoy your life Adler, find someone, have kids-”

“But I wanted to do all that with you.”

“I’m sorry” I whispered. Though in my pain, I said to the Dark King, “You think you won, but you know what? I forgive you, I forgive you for taking everyone from my life. And When I die, I won’t be in pain. I will be happy again; I’ll see Lucinda and my parents.”

The Dark King glared at me, “You think they are alive? Silly girl, I have their bones in my throne room along with his parent’s bodies.”

I stubbornly shook my head. I held my side and gasped, I knew it was time. In a rush I leaned forward and kissed Adler, “Bye Adler.” I said. I leaned back and closed my eyes and then I died.

The Warrior Chapter 17

Chapter 17

Adler was sort of freaking out. No he was freaking out; First off Thor took him to an abandoned cliff. Adler fell off Thor, “Owww. What did you do that for?”

Thor shook his head and neighed, “Yeah, thanks for laughing at me.” He saw someone at the edge of the cliff, he walked towards him, “Who are you?”

He saw The King turn around, He smiled warmly, “You should see what your partner just did to 456 zombies.” Adler walked forward, “Did you have to be precise?” The King tilted his head back and laughed.

Then Adler saw Samara in the field, “Why is she closing her eyes?”

“Because she trusts me.”

“What? Why you? I don’t even know who you are,”

The King shook his head sadly, “Yes you do, I saved your life twice. The first time when Samara held her knife to your throat. The second time just a few minutes ago. Also, you made fun of Samara for listening to me.”

Adler’s eyes got big, “You’re the Voice?” The King laughed, “Yeah, that’s what you guys call me.” He smiled and winked at him.

Adler then understood, “You’re the Light King,” Alder frowned, “How come I never heard of you,”

“Because he-” The King pointed to a figure in the field, “Never mentioned me to you.” Adler recognized the figure, “That’s the Dark King.”

“Yup. He can get aggravating, he thinks he’s won. But not yet.” He turned to Adler, “So, am I another myth? Do you believe in me?”

Adler shrugged, “I don’t know what to believe in anymore.” The King walked up to him and touched his forehead, “Yes you do,” he said softly, “Remember the lullabies you mother used to sing to you? What about the quotes your Father taught you, that’s why they died Adler, you’re parents believed in me. They are with me now,” Adler had tears in his eyes, “You know them? You- you mean I can see them?” He nodded, “After this is over though. Look, there is some trouble,” He looked at Adler, and Adler sensed that he knew everything about him his thoughts, feelings, and dreams… “I want to help, in the war. I want to defeat the Dark King,”

“In time my Son, in time.” Then the Light King vanished.

****************************

After I glanced around at all the ashes, I heard a groan. I turned and Adler was behind me holding his head, “Are you OK?” He nodded, “Yeah, I have a headache though. Was I dreaming?” Then he saw me in the dress holding the book, his eyes widened at all the ashes. “Did- did you see that?” I asked. He nodded, “I saw it, you’re awesome.” I laughed, I had tears in my eyes, “I still can’t believe he helped me. I honestly thought I was going to be  dinner.” Adler shook his head in amazement. He looked like he was sorting things out in his head. “Did he talk to you?” I asked. “Yes,”

“And?”

“And, all I can say is, I wish I could have believed in him sooner,” he looked down nervously, “Just like I wish I could have met you sooner.” I blushed.

He walked up to me and put his hands gently on my arms. At a closer look, his eyes were brown with grey flecks in them they were beautiful. I was about to tell him something when I heard evil laughter echo throughout the field. Adler pulled away from me and turned pale, “What is it?” I asked, “I am so sorry, I forgot to tell you.” “Tell me what!?” Adler pointed a finger to the person walking towards us in the field. The Dark King had arrived.

The Warrior Chapter 16

Chapter 16

I went into the field and saw Thor; for some reason I couldn’t see anything with the goggles on and took them off. Thor was shining, like silver. He ran farther away from me; I was attracted to the odd light and followed him. Then Thor vanished behind some bushes, when he came back out I was shocked.

Thor changed, he wasn’t a horse anymore, he turned into a Pegasus. His wings were gigantic, and graceful. But beautiful all at the same time. He walked up to me and gave me what looked like a bow. My mouth was open in shock. He then ran away from me, faster, and faster. He started lifting from the ground, and he flew. I saw mountains in the distance. Then I heard Adler behind me, I couldn’t turn, I just couldn’t. The sight was amazing,

“Hey, what’s happening?” I said nothing, he followed my eyes and his expression became mine. We stood there together and watched Thor fly, then we heard thunder, and we saw flashes of lightning. I screamed and put my hands over my ears, The noise was intense. I’ve heard thunder before and it was nothing like this. This was ten times louder. Then I saw a light, I saw black clouds, I never have seen clouds in my life but there they were.

I saw Thor disappear into the clouds. Then there was more thunder. I fell on my knees crying. I wept loudly, Adler was next to me he had his arms around me. I wanted to stop crying, I didn’t know why I was crying, but I couldn’t stop. I thought about everything: Baldy, my parents, The Dark King, Lucinda, Adler. The thoughts didn’t stop coming. The thunder was louder and louder. My hands were shaking.

Then Thor was flying back I saw the black clouds break apart, it looked like literally the horizon was being torn in half. I saw someone was mounted on Thor. I couldn’t see his face, Thor was close to us, I saw a hand reach out to me. Randomly, I stood up and held my hand out. He grabbed my hand, and I held onto it. We went up; higher and higher. I held onto the figure tighter. We came to a huge mountain, Thor landed on a cliff. I could see the field behind me. The rider got off and carried me off. I was in shock I didn’t know what was happening so I fainted.

When I came to, I felt alone. I started to cry again, “It’s OK. I heard, “Rise,” It was The Voice, I knew that voice.

It was him. I looked up; I saw a figure stand over me. He had the most humble eyes I have ever seen, they were silver. His smile was welcoming. He reached for me and I didn’t know why but I hugged him. He hugged me back. He was tall, and even though I was tall, I felt like a little kid being hugged by their father. When I was finished crying, he touched my forehead with his hand, and I felt everything I knew and understood leave me. Pain, loneliness, sadness, all of it. Gone… He then touched my forehead with one finger and I looked down, I was wearing a simple dress, it was white, and it showed my figure, “It’s simple, yet beautiful. Just like you.” he said. “But how will I fight?” I said astonished, “Use the book.” “I can’t-” “Yes you can.” The book magically appeared in my hands. I opened it. I could read I was surprised, but I didn’t look up.

I read the first thing I opened to, it said, “Yea though I walk through the valley of The Shadow of Death, I will fear no evil for you are with me.” I looked at him, “What is this?” He smiled, “The best book in the world.”

I read the sentence again, “You, that’s you. Isn’t it, you are with me.” He smiled, and I smiled back. I understood it, he was happy that I finally understood.

Then another puzzle piece clicked into place, “You… You’re the Light King!” He nodded, “I will talk to you later.”

Then there was a flash, and I was back in the field, next to Adler. I saw concern line Alder’s face, “Are you OK?” I looked down, I was holding the book, and I was still wearing the dress. This was real, I looked at the mountain, Thor was coming back. Then I grabbed Adler’s shoulders, “Adler listen to me, you are in danger, go to him.” “What are you talking about?” Tears welled in my eyes, “TRUST me, have faith Adler!” Then out of nowhere as if I was in a trance, I spoke, “Adler! You’re name means Eagle. Fly Adler fly!” He looked at me strangely. I had to let him go.

I walked to the middle of the field. I knew the monsters would be here within seconds. I saw Adler about to follow me when Thor zoomed by and picked Adler up. “It’s your turn for a talk” I said to myself.

I glanced down at the book. I had a feeling I knew how to defeat these enemies. I wasn’t sure, but I was going to have faith. Then from all around me the monsters came out, they leapt out of trees, and bushes. I was not protected I had no sword, or spear. No helmet, or armor, just a dress. They circled me like prey, I opened the book and glanced at the first line.

It said, “The Lord shall cause your enemies attacking you to be defeated before you, they come at you in one way and flee from you in seven ways.” “That’s encouraging” I muttered, I kept flipping through the book. The creatures were looking at each other as if I was crazy, their faces seemed to be saying, “She‘s about to be our dinner and all she is doing is reading?” Then I found my key, “Because of this, take up all of the whole armor of The Lord that you may be able to resist the evil, and being prepared you shall prevail.” Then the book explained about the different kinds of armor, my eyes widened because I understood it now. I had a different kind of sword. One that was more powerful than a double-edged sword. I closed my eyes and said something in a language foreign to me. I repeated it over and over again, I imagined all the creatures at my feet dead.

I imagined them being burned to ashes. I saw my self in a field, I was actually witnessing my future, I saw a tall zombie walk forward, about to tear my limbs off, when fire came down, it scorched the zombie into ashes, then I saw twenty werewolves leap at me. Then they too, got burned to ashes. I kept my eyes closed,  “Yea though I walk through the Valley of the Shadow Of Death, I will fear no Evil for you are with me.” I repeated it over and over. Until I heard his Voice say, “Open your eyes,” I opened them and saw nothing. No monsters, no zombies, nothing except ashes.

The Warrior Chapter 15

Chapter 15

The Dark King laid out his plans. He knew where his brother was. He smirked at the thought of his brother, whenever he called him brother. The Light King would cringe, and say, “I am not your brother, you are nothing like me.” It was true, they weren’t brothers, but he liked to tease the Light King. The Light King would never get mad at him he would walk away, “The wimp,” he thought, “I was always stronger than him.” He stroked his black beard, “And more handsome.” He stood and walked out onto the balcony again where his entire army was outside waiting for future orders. There were humans, vampires, werewolves, zombies, mummies, demons, and one dragon. He was the biggest sight The Dark King ever saw. The Dragon was at least seven stories high he had eight eyes, and was red. His scaly skin shone, and he breathed black fire. The King smirked, he loved that dragon, he was his own creation. “Army! Gather your troops to the Field of Victory , there we will fight and defeat the Light King and I will have Victory. Let’s go!” He heard of battle cry and the army took off after their target. The Dark King smirked at the coincidence of the name of the field. “Ha Ha.” He thought, “At this field is where I will gain my Victory.”  The Dark King donned his battle armor and sat in his throne. He closed his eyes, and then he disappeared

The Warrior Chapter 14

Chapter 14

Adler was sitting in the tree when he saw Samara jump off the tree and run off, “What does she think she’s doing?” He said. “She wants to get us killed!” He saw the army get closer, and closer.

He was torn he didn’t know what to do. He knew he couldn’t do this alone. So he looked down the barrel of the gun and aimed, “STOP!” He heard. He almost dropped his gun. He looked around, he saw no one, “Follow the girl.” Adler was confused, was this the voice Samara was hearing? “Who are you?” He said aloud, “Follow her.”

Adler was uncertain, he was sort of sure that this was the Voice but it could be The Dark King trying to trick him as well.

He shrugged and looked down the barrel for a second time, he almost pulled the trigger when he heard, “Samara is in grave danger if you stay in that tree.” He

heard the army get closer and closer. He jumped down from the tree and ran after Samara.

The Warrior Chapter 13

Chapter 13

Barata woke up groggy, and started cussing. He was tied up to a tree, he sighed. This wasn’t a good day for him at all, he cut the ties with a blade he had in his boot and stood up. His mobile phone rang, these were rare, but he had one so he could keep in touch with The Dark King. Luckily there was service where he was, “Hello Your Majesty,”

“Where is the girl?” Barata was sweating bullets.

He didn’t want to tell him what happened to the girl, “I have her.” He said proudly,

“Lies!” The Dark King shouted. Barata almost dropped his phone,

“You think I’m so stupid, don’t you. I know what happened, and because of this you will pay.”

“But your Majesty please-” The call was dropped, it was too late. Barata threw the phone down angrily.

He turned to a voice, “Hello Barata.”

He jumped, “You’re-you’re Majesty. I did-didn’t know you could get here so fast.”

“Shut up you damn fool.” He did.

“Say you’re last words you insolent moron.”

“Please- forgive me.” The Dark King grinned evilly; he pointed his scepter at him.

“Not good enough. Remember I don‘t forgive.” The scepter lit up a glowing green color; he threw it in Barata’s direction. There was a flash of green then darkness again. The Dark King saw what was left of Barata, “Fool.” he thought as he stepped on his ashes, “That’s what the rest of the world will look like in my reign.” and with that he spat on his ashes and walked off. The Dark King opened his cell phone, “Skullcracker.” Skullcracker was the captain of The Dark King’s Army. He was a zombie, hence the name. And a very tall one, when he was alive, he was a basketball player. He won the NBA finals in the year 2016 which was a long time ago. Even The Dark King was a bit creeped out by the guy. I mean zombie, “I want you to take your men, and take the werewolves and get the girl.” He heard a grunt and the line went dead.

He could rely on Skullcracker, even though zombies don’t understand anything, The Dark King knew how to control them. He invented a certain power to where all zombies were under his rule and order. The Dark King smiled, his plan was coming along well. He went back to his Kingdom.

The Dark King was so powerful, that by manipulation, he could think of a place and be there in seconds. He closed his eyes and the next second he was on his balcony overlooking his entire army. He spoke though a megaphone, “My good friends! It is time! It is time to end all followers of The Light King! He is an imposter, he will never be me. It is time for my reign to go out to the entire world.” He heard a cheer. It was the loudest thing he ever heard in his life. He grinned evilly, “It is time my brother,” He whispered, “You will go down.”
